Vladimir Ilyich Lenin: Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism

IX. CRITIQUE OF IMPERIALISM By the critique of imperialism, in the broad sense of the term, we mean the attitude of the different classes of society towards imperialist policy in connection with their general ideology. The enormous dimensions of finance capital concentrated in a few hands and creating an extraordinarily dense and widespread network of relationships and connections which subordinates not only the small and medium, but also the very small capitalists and small masters, on the one hand, and the increasingly intense struggle waged against other national state groups of financiers for the division of the world and domination over other countries, on the other hand, cause the propertied classes to go over entirely to the side of imperialism. “General” enthusiasm over the prospects of imperialism, furious defence of it and painting it in the brightest colours—such are the signs of the times. Imperialist ideology also penetrates the working class. No Chinese Wall se...

Grayzone Project Topic: The Making of Juan Guaidó: How the US Regime Change Laboratory Created Venezuela’s Coup Leader

Juan Guaidó is the product of a decade-long project overseen by Washington’s elite regime change trainers. While posing as a champion of democracy, he has spent years at the forefront of a violent campaign of destabilization. By Dan Cohen and Max Blumenthal Excerpt: Before the fateful day of January 22,  fewer than one in five Venezuelans had heard of Juan Guaidó. Only a few months ago, the 35-year-old was an obscure character in a politically marginal far-right group closely associated with gruesome acts of street violence. Even in his own party, Guaidó had been a mid-level figure in the opposition-dominated National Assembly, which is now held under contempt according to Venezuela’s constitution. But after a single phone call from from US Vice President Mike Pence, Guaidó proclaimed himself president of Venezuela. Anointed as the leader of his country by Washington, a previously unknown political bottom-dweller was vaulted onto the international stage as the US-sel...

NEO Topic: How the West Weaponizes Refugees it Creates

Much of the putative left who rail against nationalism and insipid nationalist racism and xenophobia as much as, if not even more than, the neoliberal corporate media in the Anglo-Atlanticist economic sphere appear insistently oblivious to the interests of the engineers of neoliberal globalization which drive such tropes 27/7 as though the ruling elites really gave a damn. The ease with which the left appears to more than willing to be played  by the capitalist elite is,  in as much as NATO and imperialism do not figure in most of their analyses, both repugnant and quite astonishing. ••••••• Excerpt: The only thing more sinister than intentionally creating refugees, is weaponizing them as leverage to further coerce nations and advance hegemonic ambitions. The United States and its allies have done both extensively – from exploiting the flow of refugees fleeing US-led wars in Libya and Syria – to the cynical exploitation of high-profile cases like Rahaf al-Qunun...
