NEO Topic: How the West Weaponizes Refugees it Creates

Much of the putative left who rail against nationalism and insipid nationalist racism and xenophobia as much as, if not even more than, the neoliberal corporate media in the Anglo-Atlanticist economic sphere appear insistently oblivious to the interests of the engineers of neoliberal globalization which drive such tropes 27/7 as though the ruling elites really gave a damn. The ease with which the left appears to more than willing to be played  by the capitalist elite is,  in as much as NATO and imperialism do not figure in most of their analyses, both repugnant and quite astonishing. ••••••• Excerpt: The only thing more sinister than intentionally creating refugees, is weaponizing them as leverage to further coerce nations and advance hegemonic ambitions. The United States and its allies have done both extensively – from exploiting the flow of refugees fleeing US-led wars in Libya and Syria – to the cynical exploitation of high-profile cases like Rahaf al-Qunun...

BAR, Topic: Michelle Obama Slanders Black Men in Her Book, Adds to the Obama Family’s Long Anti-Black Tradition

Excerpt: " Black Agenda Report has spent over a decade analyzing the numerous manifestations of the Obama family’s hatred of Black America. Michelle Obama is currently on a book tour of her latest release,   Becoming . The overpriced book is but another addition to the post-Obama Presidency family fortune. Barack and Michelle Obama have been busy building a   billionaire brand   with book deals and speaking arrangements with Wall Street. As Paul Street noted, the Obama Foundation is putting the donations of Wall Street corporations to good use   by opening a “library” in the heartland of Black Chicago. Just as during its tenure in the White House, the Obama family is profiting from the promotion of white supremacist policy and ideology directed against Black America. Nowhere is this clearer than in the very words that have come out of the mouths of both members of the Obama “power couple.” At a recent speaking event at the Barclay’s Center in New York City, Miche...

BAP, Topic: Democrats and Republicans Collaborate on War

Excerpt: " On Friday, 139 Democrats joined with Republicans to pass a $717 billion National Defense Authorization Act, which included a rider preventing Trump from reducing the amount of U.S. imperialist troops on the Korean peninsula. This NDAA was approved on the 65th anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended the outright bombing and destruction of Korea, but didn’t end the U.S. war on the Korean people. Presidents in recent history have all helped the transnational ruling class loot more and more wealth. Obama’s recent Mandela lecture was a prime example of the cognitive dissonance—or perhaps outright fraud—of these servants of the ruling class. In his lecture, Obama described how globalization led to the politics of fear and resentment, but he wouldn’t acknowledge how global capitalism and his presidency created the conditions for it . BAP National Organizer Ajamu Baraka also spoke about Democratic Party warmongers and the backwardness of Russiagate in an episo...

BAR, Topic: Bigoted Paternalism Behind “Russians Targeted African-Americans” NY Times Article

“ The Times would have us believe that the reason African-Americans did not uniformly vote for Hillary Clinton and the Democrats is because they were too dimwitted to think for themselves.” Excerpt:  "The outlandish “Russian interference” narrative just took a turn from the banal to blatantly disrespectful. For the past two years, the punditry on the supposed left have been peddling the lie that the thousands of dollars spent on Facebook and Google ads—purportedly at the behest of Putin—had more impact on the outcome of the 2016 elections than the billions of dollars that were unleashed by corporations, lobbyists and the dark moneyed oligarchs. This week, the  New York Times decided to stop insulting our intelligence and instead chose to insult decency. According to an article written by Scott Shane and Sheera Frenkel, Russians allegedly unleashed an intricate plot to targeted African-Americans in order to foment discontent and dupe “black people” to vote against thei...

Are Libertarians Racist?

In conjunction with Ralph Nader's appeal for a left-right alliance and given that Nader and Ron Paul presented the face of such an alliance a chorus of voices rose to reject this conceit on the grounds that one of the two and the entire right-libertarian cohort well as Nader by association were racist bigots. For my part, since I reject MSM consent-manufacturing propaganda, and since I am, above all, antiwar - and thus find libertarians to be my fellow travelers -  I decided to look into the matter by keying 'libertarians, racism' into my search engine. Moving past the MSM propagandists' howling - much as they howl about Russia, because it's true - out popped:  Can you be a libertarian racist or anti-Semite?   That it appeared on the Bleeding Heart Libertarian's website illustrates that American libertarianism is not a homogenous cohort and that those painting all subsets of this otherwise socialist tendency with a broad brush as racist are willfully ignoran...

Jacobin, Topic: Can the Yellow Vests Speak?

Link:  Can the Yellow Vests Speak?  by Éduard Louis France's elites were quick to condemn the gilets jaunes protesters as stupid and backward. But as novelist Édouard Louis writes, they're just standing up for their rights. Excerpt: "The gilets jaunes speak of hunger, of precarity, of life and death. The “politicians” and part of the journalists reply: “the symbols of our Republic have been tarnished.” But what are these people talking about? How dare they? What planet are they from? The media also talk about racism and homophobia among the gilets jaunes. Who are they kidding? I do not want to talk about my books, here. But it is interesting to note that whenever I have published a novel I have been accused of stigmatizing poor and rural France precisely because I mentioned the homophobia and racism that existed in the village where I lived as a child. Journalists who had never done anything for the popular classes were enraged, and suddenly set themselves up to play...
