Real News Topic: "Does Socialism Make People Lazy?"

This was contributed by Alice X. Thanks Alice! I've pasted in the transcript, while the video can be accessed through the Real News page:  https://therealnews.com/stories/does-socialism-make-people-lazy ????????????????????? TAYA GRAHAM:   Hello. My name is Taya Graham. And welcome to The Real News Network. We are continuing our conversation with Paul Jay about socialism with comments from our viewers. So I’m going to share some viewer thoughts on socialism and your dissection of it with your previous guest. Now, we are going back to a viewer comment that addresses “does socialism make people lazy.” Now, Patrick R. says, “Socialism is disgusting, leads to laziness in business and the workforce, and has literally never worked anywhere. Are you people daft?” So Paul, how do you address this? I feel like he’s using the laziness trope as a way to kind of discredit socialism overall. What’s your response? PAUL JAY:   Well, first, I may be daft, that’s a separate d...

Seattle Is Dying. Drugs And Homelessness In Seattle.

A heartbreaking look into the drug epidemic, rampant homelessness and mental illness in Seattle.  The framing of this narrative could be characterized as "right wing", however, I think it is worth a look if you have about an hour to spare.   The video was produced by KOMO news which is an AM radio ABC affiliate in Seattle. Apparently it is the 3rd installment of a documentary trilogy by KOMO which explores homelessness and drug abuse.  I haven't seen the other two documentaries yet, but KOMO does provide a link to them if you are interested. "This program is not about demonizing those who are struggling with addiction and homelessness and mental illness. On the contrary. Instead, it asks the question, Why aren't we doing more? Why don't we have the courage to intervene in lives that are, in the face of a grave sickness, reeling out of control?" -KOMO News Anchor Eric Johnson.   Although there is an undertone that "this is your city on sociali...

Topic: Mandatory Vaccinations

NYC Di Blasio Orders Mandatory Vaccinations or $1000 Fine The order applies to anyone living, working or going to school in areas under four postcodes in the neighbourhood and requires all unvaccinated people at risk of exposure to the virus to get the vaccine, including children over six months old. Di Blasio was joined by health officials who decried what they called "misinformation" spread by opponents of  vaccination . "If people will simply cooperate quickly, nobody will have to pay a fine," de Blasio said. LThis outbreak is being fuelled by a small group of  anti-vaxxers  in these neighbourhoods. They have been spreading dangerous misinformation based on fake science," The City’s Health Commissioner said.   "We stand with the majority of people in this community who have worked hard to protect their children and those at risk. We've seen a large increase in the number of people vaccinated in these neighbourhoods, but as Passover approache...

Naked Capitalism Topic:"We Need to Stop the Overdiagnosis Disease. Step 1: Remove Vested Interests"

Posted on   April 9, 2019  by Yves Smith Yves here. This setting of overly stringent boundaries for health versus disease is widespread, and also annoyingly contrast with conventional medicine’s indifference to what they regard as subclinical problems like fatigue. For instance, the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology  published “new” cholesterol guidelines in 2018 . I have been told for at least a decade that Homocysteine and triglyceride levels are much better indicators of heart disease risk that cholesterol. So why the fixation on cholesterol?  Because statins? Research shows statins are beneficial only for people with actual heart disease, not people at risk of getting heart disease.  From a 2018 article : A comprehensive new study on cholesterol, based on results from more than a million patients, could help upend decades of government advice about diet, nutrition, health, prevention, and medication. Just don’t hol...

Dissident Voice Topic: "Biden, Bernie, and the Bomb" by Rosemarie Jackowski

April 9th, 2019 Will 2019 go down in history as the year of insanity?  Has hyper hysteria taken over the entire country? Is it no longer possible to make our way through the hazy maze of Political Correctness?  Have we gotten to the point where guns are legal but an innocent hug can get you indicted? Consider this: Thousands are protesting a simple touch on the shoulder, while no one is protesting the nuclear stockpile of weapons that endangers the entire planet. The political smear campaign against Joe Biden is in high gear. Think about the amount of ink that has been wasted by the Press on this non issue.  Meanwhile people are dying. Kids are being kidnapped on the border by our government. This will go down in history as a major Crime Against Humanity. Thousands of children have been lost and can not be reunited with their families.  Our health care system is in crisis.  Bridges and roads are collapsing.  Poverty and homeles...

ICH Topic: "Like Libya and Syria, Venezuela Is Not 'Just About Oil'” by Andre Vltchek

April 03, 2019  Yes, the latest research confirms that Venezuela is so rich in natural resources, that it could single-handedly satisfy all global demand for oil, for over 30 years. And it has much more than oil to offer, in its Orinoco basin and in other areas of the country. But it is not all ‘about oil’; actually, far from it. Those who believe that what propels the spread of Western terror all over the world, are just some ‘business interests’ and legendary Western greed, are, from my point of view, missing the point. I noticed that such individuals and analysts actually believe that ‘capitalism is responsible for everything’, and that it creates the culture of violence of which, both victims and victimizers, already became hostages to. After working in all corners of the world, I am now more and more convinced that capitalism is actually the result of  Western culture , which is predominantly based on expansionism,  exceptionalism  and aggression. It...
