Revisiting “Russiagate”: If Trump was Putin’s Asset, Why Did Obama Sign an NDAA that Enhanced Presidential Powers? Teodrose Fikremariam  L ess than a month before leaving office, then President Barack  Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) , which among other things vastly expanded the powers of the Federal government’s ability to spy domestically, allowed the government to spew propaganda and gave the President near unlimited powers to detain American citizens indefinitely without habeas corpus. All of these actions were an outright abrogation of the United States Constitution and empowered future administrations the means to implement and justify tyranny in the name of security we are always promised in exchange for our liberties only to keep losing both. Now if Donald Trump was such a danger to our country and so  uncompromised by his collusion with Russia , why would Obama sign the NDAA and give Trump the tools he needs to demolish democrac...

Education and Masculinity—An Interview with Will Knowland written by  Hannah Gal “What’s the one thing we’re not talking about but we really should be?”  Triggernometry ’s Francis Foster asked now-sacked Eton teacher Will Knowland. “I think the crisis of masculinity, especially in all boys’ schools, needs to be addressed urgently,” he replied. “These institutions, many of them are embarrassed to exist and they need to think hard about why that is.” Masculinity is at the heart of the dispute that led to the English teacher’s dismissal from Eton. The number of ‘genital modification enthusiasts’ who favour complete ‘nullification’ is on the rise, as doctors promise to create “relatively smooth genital areas.” Exciting news! Lego, the much-loved purveyor of tiny plastic bricks, is launching a brand new set. The ‘ Everyone Is Awesome ’ kit includes the usual array of blocks and figurines. But the brightly coloured pieces are intended to do far more than simply get children’s creative juices flowing. ‘Everyone Is Awesome’ is Lego’s first LGBTQIA+ set. The colours of the blocks have been chosen to reflect the rainbow gay pride flag, with the addition of pale blue, white and pink blocks to represent the trans community, and black and brown bricks to  “acknowledge the diversity of skin tones and backgrounds wit...

Covid in short pants Division, infantilization & the loss of mythos in a time of pandemic Michael Meurer “Bill Gates will walk down the road singing, while men and women weep.” – Robert Bly, from The Sibling Society, 1996 The Sisters,  James Collinson,1860, courtesy of Wikipedia Nearly 16 months after Covid-19 was  declared a global pandemic  by the World Health Organization, a 24/7 deluge of lurid virus related headlines continues. Television, phone and computer screens bathe nearly every person on earth daily in the radiant glow of up to the minute death and case statistics, variant updates, vaccine and lock down news. Rather than bringing people together in the face of a common threat, this non-stop publicity about the wreckage caused by the celebrity virus has had the opposite effect. A March, 2021, review of a year’s worth of pandemic polling by  Pew Research  concluded that  “Americans have rarely been as polarized as they are today.” Simil...
